World’s Largest Art Film Festival | 90 Films from Around the Globe

The Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (ViCA) is proud to present the 13th Annual Fine Arts Film Festival (FAFF) on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Torrance Art Museum (TAM).

The festival opens with an in-person program featuring 16 films from 12 countries. Doors open at 11 a.m., with screenings continuing through 5 p.m.

From September 6–30, all 90 Official Selections will be available to stream worldwide on Vimeo. FAFF, recognized as the world’s largest art film festival, will announce the 2026 Award Winners on September 30.

MAIN GALLERY: BAKER’S DOZEN 2026

Baker’s Dozen acts as a review of sorts—a survey exhibition featuring thirteen artists whose work made a positive impression on the curators over the past year. These thirteen artists reflect current directions in Southern California’s contemporary art practices.

Historically, a “baker’s dozen” refers to thirteen instead of twelve, originating in 13th-century England, when bakers would include an extra loaf of bread to avoid punishment by King Henry III for selling underweight loaves. This exhibition draws on that idea, acknowledging the curators’ own preconceptions and biases, while centering artistic endeavors rooted in the present moment.

GALLERY TWO & DARK ROOM: B-LA-M

A three-year exchange between Berlin, Los Angeles, and Mexico City artist-run initiatives featuring artists from UOOORS (Los Angeles), Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (ViCA) (Los Angeles) and Die Moglichkeit einer Insel (Berlin).

Liminal Level: an immersive hallway experience featuring a new site-specific installation by artist Darel Carey.

Darel Carey is a visual artist focusing on optical perception. He graduated from Otis College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016. His Optical Art (Op Art) includes immersive tape installations, painted murals, and digital art.  The demand for his crowd-pleasing work has been in demand in recent years, with installations at art institutions around the world and featured in major commercial ad campaigns.

Darel’s previous hallway installations for TAM include DIMENSIONALIZATION (2018-2019) and COALESCENCE (2019-2024).
